How Will Things Change When I Lose Weight?
Have you ever really thought about how things will change once you lose your excess weight? It is an interesting thing to stop and reflect on. Will your confidence go up? Will you feel more attractive? Do you think it will have an effect on success?
I have to admit, I haven’t really thought about this topic much. My primary purpose for dieting is my health; nevertheless, I also want to be fit. So here goes, my top ten list of how things will change for me once I lose my excess weight:
- For me, the number one thing I look forward to when I lose my excess weight is not worrying about (or at least worrying less) about dying at a young age from a heart attack or stroke. I know this still happens to people who are a healthy weight, but the risk sure does go down a lot when you lose weight.
- Even though I consider myself a confident person, I am not confident enough to play a game of shirts and skins basketball, because I might be chosen on the skins team. I will finally be able to play this game.
- My expenses will go down. I cannot buy clothes on sale because the clothes I can wear are never on sale. There have been a number of times my coworkers have found a sale on dress shirts or ties, but I cannot take advantage of this because my size is not on sale.
- I will have more clothing options. Currently I have a very limited variety of clothes I can buy because of my size. Of course, if I were in a larger city my options would be better, but they are not good here.
- My knees will hurt less. I don’t really have a problem with this that often, but if I am on my feet all day, my knees begin to hurt. I suspect losing another 50 pounds will be a huge help here.
- I will be able to jump on our trampoline. I suppose I am right at the weight limit on the trampoline right now, but I am still hesitent to jump on it.
- People will no longer call be “big guy”. This really doesn’t bother me, but it will be nice when I begin to notice that “big guy” is no longer my nick name.
- I will not have to worry about weight limits on things which are made for adults. The one that really gets me is furniture. Did you know that most furniture is not rated for heavy people? My side of the bed has always had a dip in it. This is even with a good matress.
- I will be able to wear the free t-shirts I get at conferences. Right now, I have to give them to my wife or my sons. There have been some really cool ones too.
- I will be embarrassed when I occassionally tell a fat joke on myself. I tend to poke fun at myself now. I suspect this may be a habit that is hard to stop when I am no longer fat. I cannot wait until the day when someone asks why I am making fun of myself being fat. That will be a great day!
There you have it, that is my top ten things that will change when I lose my excess weight. Have you thought about your top ten?

In no particular order:
1. To be able to walk a round of golf and not feel exhausted afterwards.
2. To buy clothes that are consistently only a ‘Large’ not an XL or XXL,
3. Not being the bigggest person where I work
4. I will feel more attractive.
5. Satisfied that I have overcome my lifelong enemy – food.
6. To be as comfortable as can be expected in an economy airline seat.
7. To be able to take my shirt off without being self conscious.
8. Simply to feel good physically and spiritually about myself.
9. To see the look on my Father’s face when he sees me for the first time (he lives on the other coast of Canada and we have not seen each other in about a year).
10. To be able to get back to my hobby of wine i.e. i still buy it and learn about it, but I don’t drink it anymore and I miss it with our dinners.

Reading your list makes me rethink some of mine. I think buying large clothes will be nice. The airline seat is also another good one. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this.

No offense Acai, but your comment strongly resembles spam. I don’t know how you could convince me otherwise, but your blog with one post essentially advertising your product doesn’t help.
