Off to DC

It was another good exercise day today.  I did Intu-Flow joint flexibility routine, week 3, day 1 of 100 push ups program, Tabata Jacks, Tabata Squats, scissor leg lifts, leg lifts, prone leg lifts, and planks.

Eating was also good today, although I did end with a little more food than normal, just an apple and walnut butter, but I normally wouldn’t have eaten that in the evening.  I am preparing for a fast tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow – I am heading off on my trip to Washington DC, as the conference has not been cancelled despite treacherous roads, closed public transportation, delayed flights, and a winter storm warning for another 10-20 inches of snow.  Go figure!  :-)   I packed an extra set of clothes as I am anticipating getting stuck somewhere.  To top all of that off, I forgot that I booked an extremely early flight out of an airport that is two hours away.  Ughh!  Since we are expecting 6-8 inches of snow this evening, I am going to have to leave even earlier.  That means I will be on the road by 2:00 AM.  Again, ughhh!  Why do I do this to myself?

Are you looking for a changeup in your workout routine?  If so, Diane’s giveaway at Fit To The Finish may be just for you.  It is a Gym in a Bag.  I don’t think I would use this, but I would love to win it for my wife – she is wanting to try resistance bands.  If I don’t win it, I’ll be buying some, but it sure would be nice to try for free.  :-)

The New York Times reports that the required posting of calories in New York has an effect on the way people eat.  While it isn’t very significant, consumers did reduce their caloric intake by an average of 6% when calories were posted for viewing.

  6. My food choices change drastically when the calories are posted for all to see. However, even when they are not, I often ask a manager in the restaurant if the nutritional information is available. Often times, they have it in the back somewhere.

Irene, this is a great point. We really need to take control ourselves.

  8. Congrats on exercise & food! Now, if you can survive this trip!!!! Good luck & hope you don’t get stuck, sounds scary to me!!!! As for the time, well, I have some strange times myself so I can’t talk!

As for the videos, I have just been short of time lately so that is my reason…. I always love them but have been just a bit short of time as of late.

I am pretty nervous about getting stuck. I have plans this weekend that I don’t want to have cancelled, but I may not have a choice.

Thanks for the comment on the videos – I appreciate it.

  9. Safe travels Steve. My friend in DC is just getting herself out of there in favour of the golf links of Florida.
