Motivation for Monday – What Would You Do?

Be sure to check out my YouTube Channel!

Regarding the videos, I have two questions for you all today.

  • First, are you still enjoying the videos?  I ask this because the comments on the videos has fallen off drastically.  I don’t know whether this is because interest is waning, or because of the blog redesign some time back which moved the videos off to the side.
  • Second, would any of you be willing to write a testimonial for me to use on the website I am putting together for my speaking business?  If so, send me a comment via my Contact Page.  There are no guarantees I will use what you send, especially since I am only going to use 3-5 quotes, but if you are willing to be quoted, I would love to see what you have to say.

  1. Love the videos – especially when I can hear them (my temperamental speakers have decided to work today!) There are too many things to list that I “would do” ;)

Thanks for the comment Patsy! I am glad the speakers decided to let you hear today. :-)

  2. I enjoy your videos. First off, I love your accent. I know you don’t hear it, but being from NYC, it’s nice to hear someone speak with a different dialect.

Secondly, you are really passionate about what you are speaking of and that just makes me want to get up and go. I haven’t been reading the blog or watching the videos as often as I would like, but when I do, I am definitely motivated.

As far as things I haven’t done, there really aren’t any. I am not afraid to try new things, no matter how much I weigh. I really love living life and am not going to allow a number on a scale to dictate how I am going to live.

I’m not fearless, cause there are a few things that terrify me. But I will say that I am brave. I will give most things a go twice before I decide not to do it again.

Irene, thanks for letting me know you still like the videos. You seem like a real go-getter to me – that is an admirable trait.

  3. Yes, I truly enjoy your videos! This is a great one and so true. Many people put off things through fear and end up never moving forward.

  4. Never thought about making of list of things I’d do if I knew I wouldn’t fail, but I can tell you right now the first one would be lose weight. So, I’ll keep working on that one to be sure. :)

And that is a great place to start!

  5. Your videos are great! I do find that I comment less on the videos than your regular posts since the redesign…but I’ll make it a point. I know they’re a lot of work, but they are VERY welcome.

As far as your speakign testimonals…I’d love to write one. It may take me some time, though…

I am not hung up on the comments, I just didn’t want to keep making them if they weren’t being watched. I guess I should check my logs for that.

I would greatly appreciate the testimonial – thanks.

  6. new goal… hmmmmm… well you know about my goal to complete a marathon… that’s coming up in june, so I can pass that one off soon… but honestly I like trying new things, so it’s hard to come up with one right now… the short term stuff is easier for me, it’s the long term stuff I really struggle with :0

as for a plug, I would love to write something… give me a day or so to think up what I would like to say :)

I think a lot of us struggle with the long term stuff, but really those are the things we need to give us direction. At least I do.

I would greatly appreciate the plug Kashi! Thanks!

  7. I love your videos Steve, and your new design.. Your videos always motivate my and most of the time feel as if you have been reading my mind and speaking directly to me. Keep up with the videos!

You hit it right on about fears and holding off on doing things, my learning to drive a motorcycle for example. I have wanted to do it for years, and have my own bike. Then hubby decided to get himself a motorcycle and I could either use the chance to get one for myself and learn to ride or, sit at home while he is out cruising and taking trips. I voted to fight my fear and am in the process of paying of my very own motorcycle and saving the money for the motorcycle driving course!

Thanks Karyn – I appreciate the affirmation on the videos!

What a great testimony of fighting your fear! I can’t wait to read of your rides.

  8. I love your videos, though I don’t always comment. I like Karyn’s comment above, as I am in process of saving for my motorcycle too!
I completely agree with you that we need to get over our fears and start taking steps towards what we want to do, whether its owning a motorcycle, losing weight, or making a career change.

This is awesome Vicki – two motorcycle gals in a row!

Thanks for the comment on the videos too.

  9. Your videos are treasures, Steve!

I find I don’t always comment on them, though, because I’m almost *always* behind in watching them, with bandwidth sometimes being a challenge. Then again, now that I think of it, it doesn’t really matter if the comment is a year later or not, right? =) Guess I’ve fallen prey to perfectionism there, ahem!

Will drop you a public speaking testimonial via your Contact page. And I’d say you are definitely an example of pursuing those dreams outside the comfort zone – and time for me to ponder a bit what I would attempt if I knew I couldn’t fail… Well, actually I have a pretty good idea!

Thank you Pippa, and thank you for the testimonial. I really appreciate it.

Don’t worry about the comments. I just wanted to be sure they were being watched.

  10. Steve you know the videos are my personal favorites. They or rather you are very interesting and informative,I dont think people are losing interest at all.I find it interesting how people will make comments on certain things, you had 90+comments on this one blog, and 9 on another.Go figure!Dont worry you do a great job and please keep the videos coming.By the way the one today(mon) is a real good one, this sounds kind of silly but ive always wanted to spin but never thought I could keep up with others.I hope I get the nerve to try.

    South Beach Steve Reply:

VAngel, thank you for this comment. I appreciate your feedback. I’ll never understand the wide range in the number of comments. :-)

I think you ought to find a spinning class – what a great way to begin!

  11. I love your video’s, I just don’t always comment because I can only watch them at home and so I watch as many as I can and forget to comment :)

  13. Hi Steve. I’ll admit to not watching your videos any longer, though I do like how, with the new year, you made your tone a bit softer (maybe less strident??? not meant in a bad way). I know this softer but no less passionate style will appeal to a lot of folks.

I stopped watching simply because they are not what I am needing for my life – I simply am not the audience to whom you are speaking. Your message is consistent, so I think the videos will appeal to an ever-changing audience, and as your followers move beyond the current challenges of weight loss and solidly settle in to a fresh, healthy lifestyle, the messages will appeal to the upcoming commitments or recommitments.

Your blog stats should be a reliable way of getting feedback on video hits.

Did you bring snowshoes to DC?

    [Reply]

    South Beach Steve Reply:

Wendy, this is a good point, as always. I don’t expect people, especially those who aren’t the target audience to continue watching.

No snowshoes – I don’t even own them. :-) They would sure help though.
