The Perfect 10 – Update Three

Can you believe we are at the end of the third week of the new year already?  Do you know what that means?  That’s right, it is time for another Perfect 10 update.  I’ll begin with my update for the week:

  • Exercise six days a week. – I have done this for the past week.
  • Do Tabata Squats three days a week. – I have done this for the week.
  • Do Tabata Jacks three days a week. – I have done this for the week.
  • Do push ups three days a week. – I have done this for the week.
  • Do planks (front and side) three days a week. - I have done this for the week.
  • Implement a flexibility training program (hopefully this will also help with my tendinitis). – I have done this for the week.
  • Implement clubbell and/or sledgehammer training. – This is coming soon.

Don’t forget, we also have to tell something other bloggers don’t know about us.  Here’s my secret for the week.  While my wife has a cat, the cat is actually outnumbered in our house.  Outnumbered by snakes.  We My son actually has two snakes: a Corn Snake and a Black Rat Snake.  The Black Rat Snake is a huge snake – over five feet long.  The Corn Snake is much smaller, but is much more colorful – orange and red.  Right now they are hibernating in the garage (in aquariums, of course).  I don’t mind holding them, but my wife won’t even touch them.  And yes, they do eat mice, but the mice are frozen, not live.

So, what about you, do you have a strange pet?  Just to be clear, you don’t have to answer my question for your secret item, it is just a suggestion.

Oh, one last thing, if you are competing in The Perfect 10, then you have to put a comment on this post, preferably linking to your update.  I hope your year is going outstanding so far – I hope you are making it a Perfect 10!

  1. Great job Steve! Snakes in the house…well actually the garage. Eek!!! Although one of my secrets was that I have a tattoo of a snake I don’t think I would want one as a pet. I am doing my update tomorrow night, but I will come back and post a link.

I am really impressed that you got all your goals in even though you were traveling.

    [Reply]

    South Beach Steve Reply:

Well, they are in the house in the warmer months. The need the cold to hibernate. :-)

  2. Getting goals done while traveling is amazing. Great job!

My only pet secret is, my two dogs are my very first pets. I decided by 40 it was clear having kids were not in the plan, so, here I am with two furry adopted brats.

    snakes??? uhm , no way!

This one surprises me a bit Andrew – I had pegged you as a possible snake owner. I think it is because you look like a guy that we met at a zoo who worked with snakes. Cool guy.

I forgot to say something about myself in my post (if that is even decipherable) so i added to it. http://liteonthemtn.blogspot.com/2010/01/i-didnt-meet-my-goals-because-i-was.htmlit. I like the updates… sledgehammer training? Are you going into MMA soon? Maybe a new blog?

    Happy New Year!

We do have a bit of a weird pet though my son has an aquatic frog. His granny bought it for him 4 1/2 yrs ago, there were 2 originally, they were suppose to only live 6 months lol.

  52. Hi Steve, my post is here. I’m definitely crossing my fingers that this week I’ll hear the whoosh you speak of. I have high hopes!

My boyfriend really wants a snake, but I love rats (I had five as a kid… weird, I know), so the idea of feeding them freaks me out. I know they actually eat mice, but close enough for me. :) I don’t have any strange pets right now, but I do plan on getting another rat in the future (I guess that’s kind of strange).

    [Reply]

    South Beach Steve Reply:

Rats are pretty odd pets too, and I am quite sure raising rats and snakes together wouldn’t go so well. By the way, our 5 foot snake could easily eat a rat or a small rabbit.

  55. Great Job Steve.
My brother used to have a very large snake, can’t remember what type right now and he used to feed it live mice. My mom was terrified of mice and one day the mouse got out. She called me and I went over to find her and my aunt sitting outside on deck as they wouldn’t go in to the house. So I had to go in a find the mouse – which I did. Another time the snake got out and my brother couldn’t find it so they called me again to the rescue – I found it curled up in my bro’s closet keeping warm.
I used to have Iguana’s and Bearded dragons and they weren’t my kids :)

    [Reply]

    South Beach Steve Reply:

I bet your mom was panicking! I have a friend whose mother felt a snake crawl across her chest one night while she was in bed. She got up and yelled at her son, my friend, because his snake got out – only his snake was securely in its cage. She fell to pieces then. :-)
