  1. This is a great message Steve, thanks for such great words. Halfheartedness is an indicator of mindlessness and lack of presence in one’s life. If I do what I’ve always done, I’ll get what I’ve always gotten. Hearty-ness is the key! Thanks again!

Thanks Wendy. This is one of my favorite videos so far. All to often people only want something. They just don’t want it enough to do what it takes.

  2. LOVE IT. also the notion of it being the definition of insanity :) doing the same thing—expecting different results!

  3. LOVE your blog and videos. …always very motivating. I actually LOVE the treadmill. It got boring, so I did some research and changed it up a bit. You can really get extreme on a treadmill. Go to youtube and type in extreme treadmill workout or go to stevepfiester.com . It is fun to try different things with it…interval training, going backwards and sideways. Try it and you’ll like it! Thanks again for the blog!

Carol, you are welcome. I truly appreciate the comment!

I need to find a way to make the treadmill more enjoyable, because right now it is pure torture to me. I know that is all mental, but I haven’t found my way past that yet.

  4. Steve, are we on the same wavelength or not today! Similar message in your video & my post! I guess we were both thinking the same stuff. Great minds think alike! :-) Well, my mind is failing me at times but I keep pushing it & the bod.. no half-heartedness here!

Apparently we are on the same wavelength. Maybe that will reinforce it in someone’s mind.

  5. Halfheartness and complacency were two words that described me for a long time. Great video as usual and wonderful reminder to stay strong!

  6. I’m stealing this and putting it as my status on Facebook today:

“Half-heartedness is the root of failure.”

    Awesome.

  8. Great message. When you truly commit to a goal, you’re halfway to achieving it.

Speaking of goals…I finally got my Hot 100 up for last week. :)

  10. To a British gal, you sound like an army major in a Hollywood film, it’s really cool that I can hear you in my head now when I read your posts! You know I’ve enjoyed your videos for a while now, please stick at it! I think your next inspirational video should be on my greatest vice – inconsistency!

This made me chuckle. I happened to have received several comment on my accent this past week while I was out of town.

It helps to know that people enjoy the videos, although I enjoy making them enough I would probably do one whether people liked them or not. :-)

    Inconsistency – on the way!

  11. I think if I knew why I am approaching this half-heartedly (let’s be serious, I don’t think I am even 1/10-heartedly right now) I would be following through. The elusive answer.

Kimberley, believe me, I understand what you are saying. I had the same problem for years, and years. Don’t give up. Try to find what motivates you. Once you find it, run with it.

  12. Thanks for this post Steve. After seeing this and thinking of my post today, that is just what I seem to be doing this week. Going at my weight loss efforts only half heartedly. Why I am this week I still need to figure out. Your post is very inspiring though and I think I will get up right now and hit my treadmill. I know I will feel better for it!

I am glad to hear it Karyn. I hope the treadmill went outstanding for you. Find your motivation – once you do, never, ever look back.

  13. PERFECT message Steve!! I needed this!! This is exactly how I’m feeling right now!! My WHOLE heart is in this (and body and soul too!!)!! This is just more confirmation that I’m doing the right things…I’m gonna have to download your messages on my iPOD!! You are exactly what I need! Joania, I am so happy to read this, but I can’t imagine you needing any more motivation. You are one pumped up gal!

Thanks for the comment on how I am looking – I really appreciate that.

  14. Steve you make it seem like you are talking directly to me. I agree with you 100% I do. Right now I am trying to find my whole dang heart I really am. Thank you for your advice today.

Shannon, who’s to say I wasn’t? ;-) I really do know where you are coming from. We know when our heart isn’t 100% into something, and we can’t force it to be there. We have to keep searching for our motivator though. Once we find that motivator, we have to run with it and never, ever look back.

  15. Definitely the message I needed to hear today. I stepped on the scale and I’m still stuck at my starting number. I’m grateful that I have at least stopped the gain, but half-hearted would describe my approach over the past month or so. I’m going to change that.
