The Hot 100 – Update Five
That’s right folks, The Hot 100 is halfway over today! Be sure you get your updates in, either as a comment on this post, or as a post on your own blog. Just remember, if you want to ensure I know you have done your update, you should probably leave a comment here.
Are things not going like you expected? Don’t worry about it. Remember, The Hot 100 is not about who achieves all their goals, it is about the people who stick to their goals through the very end, despite what the circumstances look like. In other words, perseverance (is that a future Wednesday’s Word of the Day?). Get those updates in, and make it a great day!

Hi Steve. I will have my update in by the end of the day!

press on – nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. talent will not. nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
persistence and determination alone are omnipotent!

I am now posting a Hot 100 Update every Saturday to go along with my weekly weigh-in & reflection post!
I am loving this challenge! I really am “figuring” out this weight loss stuff….all the mental that goes along with the growth and the loss.
Thanks again for hosting!

Robin, things happen. We just have to climb back on the wagon and make the most of it. You can do it Robin, I know you can!

1. Make the best of every situation. With all that’s going on with the remodeling at the cottage and our house I think I’ve made lots of progress being more easy going in stressful situations.
2. Write a note for the appreciation jar everyday. I’ve done well this week with this and the kids have noticed. I’m going to give it a few more days and then we can all sit down and read them. I’m hoping it will help each of them to see what I’m appreciative for and hopefully help them to see what they could be more appreciative of. I think Nicholas and Marie have put a few notes in the jar but I have a feeling Kevin and Mike are still lacking in that area. Lead by example though that’s a good motto for me.
3. eat 5 to 7 fruits and veggies everyday. I’ve been doing well with this and usually getting in more than 5. I’m back to eating soup since the weather is colder and I’m really enjoying it. It definitely helps with the veggies.
4. exercise 3-4 times every week. This week was more physical labor than actual exercise but I think it’s all still moving my body more and burning calories.
5. Turn over things that are upsetting me to God.
I’m definitely making progress in this area. I can give a good example when the old renters hadn’t come by to get the rest of their stuff and clean the place I just prayed about it on my way home from the grocery store and if you can believe it there were the renters in the driveway when I arrived. Now that’s quick prayer answering *smile*.
6. Lose 23.6 lbs by end of December to become TOPS Maryland queen. I have 15 lbs to go. The scale is finally moving again. I’m more focused this week on just eating less processed foods and less sodium and it’s definitely helping.
7. Don’t eat after dinner. I still struggle with this on the weekends the most. I did well Sunday through last night though so I’m doing ok this week so far.
8. Journal my food daily. I’m actually emailing 2 blog friends with my food and exercise each day and I’ve noticed it’s definitely helping with thinking about everything I put in my mouth before I do knowing someone else is going to be reading it.
9. Eat fish a few times a week. No fish this week. I’m going to take this one off my goal list next week and I bet anything I will eat fish lol. I’m not the biggest fish eater anyway and winter just doesn’t seem the right time of year to me.
I’m glad you have this challenge it is helping me to push through the end of the year strong. Thanks.

Also posted an update – much more positive after last week’s major OOPS. And halfway, yay!
I have to agree with you, Steve, that the main focus is about sticking to the goals, even when you’ve fallen down. I just heard on blogtalkradio that the important part is not the weight loss, the extra fitness, etc. (though those have their place, too). First and foremost it is about changing the inside of your head, your attitude, and then the rest will follow. The way to do it? Perseverance!
And for that reason I am SO IMMENSELY grateful for this challenge, because, boy, it’s working! That is such a big WOW for me, coming out of a sedentary life, it just sparkles my entire week. =)

Great comment Pippa. It is so much more than weight, exercise, etc. It is all about getting our heads on strait and reversing the trends that put us where we now are.
I love it that you say this sparkles your entire week! That makes my week! Thanks Pippa!

I posted my update on my blog yesterday.
I have failed already in a few goals but that doesn’t matter: I still stick to them instead of giving up. For example I said I would finish the 30 day shred before December 31 but I’m not going to make it because I’m doing it once a week now. But hey now the count is at 7 and with 6 weeks left I probably end up at 13 but that’s always better than 7.
Thanks for the great challenge, still loving participate in it.
