Almost Persevering
My mind was willing this morning, but my body was weak (or perhaps it was the other way around
). Anyhow, the alarm went off at 4:00 and I sure didn’t want to get out of bed. It was so warm and comfortable. I finally drug myself out of bed at 4:30 and was on the road walking by 4:40. I put in 4.1 miles at just over a 15 minute pace. I also did two sets of 50 push ups each and 3 60-second planks on the front and both sides. I ran out of time, and will, by the time I should have done Tabata. If there is a disappointment of the day, this is it. I should have persevered and done it anyhow.
Another great day of eating, although it started out disappointing. I was really working myself up to eat my last HoneyCrisp Apple this morning. After I got out of the shower, I noticed one of my boys ate it last night. Grrr!
Luckily I had a Red Delicious setting on the counter. They sure aren’t as good, but it was better than going hungry. Lunch was a can of tuna, kidney beans, and green peas, all mixed together with a smoked, sweet and sour habanero. I also had about ten serrano peppers. Supper was two medium sized bowls of chili and a salad. I will probably eat a square of 85% dark chocolate and natural walnut butter for a bedtime snack.
It has been a busy night, and I need to get in bed, so I need to head of to bed. I need to get up at 4:00 tomorrow so I can get six miles in.
Don’t forget, tomorrow is the Q&A post. If you have questions, you better get them in fast. You ask, and I’ll tell.
Make it a great one folks!

I have a question!
Why aren’t you running? You are clearly in good shape these days, and you walk a LOT. Is there an injury that I missed that is preventing you from running? Or have you just not taken the plunge, so to speak?

Great question Kimberley – the answer is coming in just a few hours or less.

Good for you! I can’t imagine getting up at 4:30 on a regular basis, but it clearly works for you because you look great and are obviously very fit at this point.

Way to get out of bed and get on the road. You really inspire me with your dedication to the early morning walks. I really want to do it in the morning tomorrow, but we’ll see!

Chris, I think you get the award for the deepest question of the day. Check back in a bit.

Well, Steve, your day was way better than mine. Completely and utterly BLEW it.
So here’s another question, if it hasn’t been asked already. I know you can be pretty strict and motivated, but what do you do when you blow it completely? Do you fall into self-recrimination? Do you have a strategy for getting yourself back on the wagon? And how quickly does that happen? From what I pick up from your reports, it seems you easily right your course the next day, if not already by the evening of that same day. What’s your secret?
Do you ever experience emotional eating? And if you do, what would be a good strategy to circumvent that?
Off to make today a BETTER day…

I think if I had kids I’d hide the good food but then again I have a husband, he’s eaten my stuff. Once he ate my leftover scallops knowing full well I was saving them, I still haven’t let it go. I think that was like 2 years ago or more.

I thought I had hidden the apple well enough. In fact, he said he wouldn’t have eaten it if he thought I had hidden it, but he thought it was an old apple that had gotten hidden in the bottom of the drawer over time.

Sorry to hear you missed your favourite apple although I had to laugh that you’re boy ate it
Great day! Make another great one tomorrow!

I have to laugh at your boy eating your apple too. At least he is eating the healthy stuff!
I applaud you for getting up so early each morning to work out. The one time I tried that, I made it for about 2 mins on my treadmill and just couldn’t do it. Plopped back into bed and right back to sleep for an extra hour before going to work.
