Weight and Measurements – Week Ten

As I was writing this post, my power went out — again!  Thankfully it came right back on, but it sure was reminiscent of last week.

Okay, I have mixed emotions about my weight and measurements this week.  First off, I am disappointed and frustrated that my weight and some of my measurements have gone up this week.  According to the scales, I have gained two pounds this week, which puts me at 239.5.  Notice I said I was disappointed and frustrated, not surprized.  While I have eaten all South Beach Diet friendly foods this week, I have eaten too much of them and have not exercised at all like I have been.  My BMI also went up to 34.4.  The measurements for my stomach and forearms also went up.  My stomach is now 48″, which is up from 46.5″.  I would say this measurement could be expected to fluctuate more than any other, so I am not overly disappointed with it.  My forearms went from 12.625″ to 12.75″.  This could be a mismeasurement.  Next week we’ll see what this is.

Second, I am elated that my body fat percentage and other measurement tell a slightly different story.  According to my body fat analyzer, I have lost 0.8% body fat, which puts me at 28%.  My neck also went down from 18.625″ to 18.5″, my waist went from 41.75″ to 41.5″, and my calves went from 18″ to 17.875″.  Like the above listed increases, all of these could be mismeasurements – we’ll see how they pan out next week.

My chest, upper arm, and thighs all stayed the same.

All in all, this is slightly better news than I expected, especially with the body fat percentage going down.  After all, it is all about the fat, not the weight.  Now that this is behind me, I can begin a better week.

One last thing, I had my wife take some pictures of me this morning.  The two of my legs while I am jumping rope were her idea.  She says my leg muscles really show up while I am doing that.  The one from the back kind of looks weird – I guess because my muscles are still moving downward while I am propelling myself upward.  Also, you can compare the face shot with the profile shot at the top left of my blog or you can see another early photo from Day Seven. Anyhow, here they are:
