My Goals Update
I have to admit, I am surprised at the turnout for The Hot 100 – Going Out With a Bang! This is really going to be a great way to end the year.
Today has been another good day. A lot of people think they do better on their diets while they are at home, but I think I do better while on the road. Of course, exercise was the treadmill again, which I could do without, but it is the best option here. I did add another half mile in today, for a total of three miles. I also did my Tabata this morning. I have to admit, I sure didn’t want to do this today. My score was 31 again. I honestly think I could have scored 32, but I was a little slow one time.
Eating was also pretty good today. Breakfast was another Jazz Apple with natural PB. This was obviously not enough as my stomach was growling by 10:00. I may eat a second apple for breakfast tomorrow. Lunch was another repeat from yesterday with a big salad. Supper was four shrimp stuffed in jalapenos, wrapped in bacon. I probably shouldn’t have gotten this, but it sounded so good. I also had a ribeye, vegetables, and a salad. Mid-evening snack was another Jazz Apple with natural PB.
My goals update for the week is as follows:
- I will not overeat this week. – Doing good so far.
- I will not eat cereal Monday-Saturday of this week. - No cereal yet.
- I will not eat dried fruit this week. - No dried fruit yet.
- I will only eat nuts or nut butters in combination with fruit, at most twice a day. – Did good today.
- I will walk a total of 15 miles or more. - I am up to 8. Over half way there.
- I will do two days of push ups. - Two done, but I will do more.
- I will do two days of planks. - One done, one to go.
- I will do two days of Tabata. - One done, one to go.
- I will do a partial day fast at least one day this week. – Done.
Finally, my goals for The Hot 100 – Going Out With a Bang! are as follows:
- I will exercise a minimum of four days a week.
- I will walk or run 200 miles before the end of the year.
- I will implement a new exercise (meaning one I have not done recently) into my routine weekly.
I also have some other items I am going to work toward, but they aren’t really goals:
- I will make a concerted effort to improve my public speaking skills with the intent that I will find a way to begin doing paid public speaking on the side.
- I will maintain control of my eating throughout the rest of the year.
- I will tone my body up so when I finally get rid of this layer of fat, I will have some muscle to show for it.
- I will continue to lose fat at a slow and steady pace. I want to be at 185 by the end of the year. While that is a measurable number, I don’t feel it is 100% within my control as I am getting so close to the goal that the weight should start really coming off slower.
- I want to start running, but I am not ready to commit to it yet.
Lastly, I have some hopes too:
- I hope that I am able to fully come of BP meds in November. It is looking good.
- I hope that I am able to fully come of cholesterol meds in November. It is also looking good.
- I hope my tendinitis heals up enough I can get back in the swing of the 100 push ups program.

Hey Steve,
My knee isn’t too sore, thanks! I did give it a good whack though. I’ve just posted my 100 day challenge online. I couldn’t do it this morning, but it’s not yet midnight where I am so technically this is still Wednesday. Hope I can still be counted among the Hot 100!
Best,
Ishmael
PS. I really love apples and a nut butter spread too — but invariably I indulge too much with the nut butters. How do you keep them around and not empty the jar in one sitting?

Glad to hear the knee isn’t too bad. It certainly isn’t too late. It isn’t midnight here yet either. In fact, I am fine with people using their own local time. The key is for us all to get motivated and have a great last 100 days.
Regarding the nut butters. It has been a real challenge, but I have finally gotten to a point where I just look at them as my treats. Still hard to do though.

Steve, my first impression after watching your first podcast was – what a great public speaker.
Work on that like your diet and blogging and I think you will do so well.
Have a nice day

VAngel, I will be doing a happy dance all day long if the doc takes me off one or both of the meds I am hoping to come off of in November.
It is amazing how hard it is to lose some things, but it is so easy to find them again.
The best to you VAngel.

Ok I’d like to be in the Hot 100 Challenge! I think it started Wednesday which is technically yesterday but since I have not been to bed yet, it still feels like today not tomorrow….????
Goals:
Lose 17.5 lbs by December 1st (will put me under 200lbs) Have had this goal on my blog for a couple of weeks now.
Maintain weight thru December (weigh no more on Jan 1 than I did on Dec 1
Walk, exercise, work out at least 5 times a week 30-60 minutes. Total of at least 200 minutes per week.
Limit Diet Coke to weekends only and no more than 2 per day

Ron, I understand. We all work different, so we gotta do what works best for us. I am sure you will be rooting people on anyhow though.

I have tried the 100 pushups challenge and failed once I stopped. I should really try that again.

I was well on my way to achieving it when I hurt my arm. I have tennis elbow, which has really put a damper on my arm exercises. It is a good program, even if I think it moves a little fast.

You sure are one awesome guy to do this new contest
I set my goals awhile back, so i guess that doesn’t count. I will be rooting you all on though. I am impressed with your goals and all that you have set out to do these final days of 2009. This year as been an Ok year but hopefully next year will be even more awesome and were I can achieve ll mu goals in. Even though I don’t seem to have to time to post or comment as much as I’d like I still do read your blog daily because it continues to provide great motivation and inspiration to me. Thanks for it all!

Rob, I certainly think the goals would count if you want them too. That is up to you. You just gotta comply with the rest of it. I’ll leave that up to you.
Thanks for checking in and commenting. It is always appreciated.

Diane, I am quite amazed at the turnout, but without other bloggers like you letting people know about it, it would have never reached this level of success. Thanks.
