Wednesday’s Word of the Day – Change

Believe it or not, this is a new WWotD video!  Don’t expect a typical SBS video though, this one is different.  More subdued, more introspective, more erratic than normal, yet the message is important.

Wednesday’s Word of the Day – Fun

Terrific Tuesday

I am pleased to report that my foot is almost totally better.  I felt good enough to walk this morning, although I still didn’t want to push it.  I did walk 2.1 miles in 33 minutes and 34 seconds.  While that isn’t four miles, it is enough.  Tomorrow will probably be another lighter day, but by Thursday I should be back in the swing of things.

Eating was also great today.  I ate weight loss portions for breakfast and lunch again, with maintenance portions for dinner.  Breakfast was an apple with natural PB.  Lunch was a half bowl of chili.  I then had a few thin slices of sandwhich ham for a mid-afternoon snack, along with several peppers.  Supper was three grilled chicken strips, butter beans, and turnip greens.  I also had a cup of ff, plain yogurt with lemon Jello powder, strawberries, flax seed, and black walnuts.

While you are out blog surfing tonight you should head over to Pippa’s blog.  She made an awesomely bold move and went to her first Toastmaster’s meeting.  Be sure and congratulate her — she deserves it!

Did you read the article stating that Docs seem to show less respect to overweight patients?  I know they probably get frustrated when people don’t help themselves, but do they get equally frustrated at smokers, heavy drinkers, skinny people who are unhealthy, reckless people, etc?

Still on the Mend

I was hoping that my foot would be totally well today, but it was not.  Nevertheless, it is considerably better.  Perhaps tomorrow will bring total recovery.  I was able to do push ups and planks this morning.  I didn’t do a full workout on either, as it was causing some pain in the foot, but I needed to do more exercise than I have been doing.  The good news is that it is feeling quite a bit better this evening.

One interesting thing, at least to me, is how my sleeping habits have changed.  Even though I am not exercising like I was just a week and a half ago, my internal alarm clock is still set to exercise time.  I am waking up on my own at 4:30 AM.  How bizarre is that?  I have always said that I am naturally a night owl, preferring to go to sleep about 2:00 – 3:00 AM, then waking up about 9:00 AM.  Unfortunately, that schedule doesn’t work well with having an 8:00 – 5:00 job.  It also doesn’t work well with exercising in the morning.  Even though that is my natural schedule, maintaining the exercise schedule I now use for a while has converted my body to a different schedule.

Eating was right on target today.  Breakfast was an apple with natural PB.  Lunch was pork roast and green peas, both smaller than normal portions.  Oh, I had several hot peppers too.  Mid afternoon snack was green peppers.  Supper was whole grain spaghetti with meat sauce.  I also had a new type of apple with natural PB.  I cannot remember the type right now, which should tell you something.  Breakfast and lunch were both weight loss portions today, and supper was maintenance portions.  A successful day for sure.

We all went to see my wife’s grandmother tonight.  I am not sure what it means, but she cannot take the ventilator mask off, even for a minute, as her oxygen begins to drop.  She seemed to be in good spirits though.  Hopefully tomorrow will bring some better news.

I went by WalMart on the way home and bought a new pair of jeans.  I have needed to do this for a while, as I only have one pair that is pretty big on me.  I am very stubborn about buying new clothes until I get to the weight I want to be at, especially when I am so close.  I was getting tired of wearing the baggy jeans though.  Anyhow, I ended up with 34s, but if I could have found 33s I think I could have fit into them.  I was able to button the 32s, but believe me, you wouldn’t have wanted to see me in them.  :-)

Speaking of clothes, I also don’t have a lot of dress shirts for work right now, for the very same reason as the pants.  Well, much to my displeasure, I looked down at my shirt while at WalMart and noticed that my ink pen’s cap had popped off and it had leaked all over my pocket.  Grrr!  That is so very frustrating.  I think this was my favorite shirt too.  Not only that, but it was my only plain white dress shirt, so I am probably going to have to get another one very soon.  I am going to try and get the stain out, but I think it is a gel pen, so I don’t have much confidence that will work.

Motivation For Monday – Breaking Free From the Funk

Before I get to the video today, I have had a few people ask lately if they could share these videos on their blog.  I don’t mind that a bit.  I would prefer that you only link back to my blog on the current week’s videos, but if you want to embed the others, that would be awesome.  Of course, I would always appreciate a link back to my blog.  If you want to see the full list of the vlog posts I have done, you can see them at my YouTube channel.  Now on to today’s vlog post:

By the way, Rachel seems to have broken free from her exercise funk over the weekend.  Congratulations to her.  Now I just need to join her!

A Much Better Sunday

As you have all seen me write many times, Sunday’s are dietary struggles for me.  I typically eat way too much on Sundays.  While I did not eat weight loss portions today, I did eat maintenance portions, which is a victory for me considering my typical Sunday.  I also stopped with one bowl of Grape Nuts this morning, despite really craving wanting another one badly.  That was all I had for breakfast.  Lunch was leftover pork roast, cole slaw, and green peas.  Supper was two cheesburger patties on lettuce with tomatoes, peppers, pickles, and onions.  I also had a bowl of ff, plain yogurt with strawberries, lemon Jello powder, and flax seed.  All in all, it was a good food day.

The good news of the day is my foot is a lot better.  I don’t think I am going to pus it with a walk tomorrow, but I will do planks and push ups.  The walking should start Tuesday.  I probably won’t do Tabata until Wednesday.

I want to thank all of you for the well-wishes and prayers for my wife’s grandmother.  Come to find out, she did not have a heart attack, the diagnosis was a bit premature this morning.  After being transferred to the area hospital which is known for their heart care, she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.  She is doing better this evening, but still cannot come off the ventilator or her oxygen drops pretty quickly.  Hopefully my wife will get a chance to actually see her tomorrow.

Have you ever thought about adding jump rope to your exercise regiment?  If so, you need to check out Wendy’s latest article on Jump Rope.  This is something I want to add back into my routine, but with the foot acting up, now is not the time.

The daily grind starts back tomorrow.  I am hoping I don’t have to pull the long hours like last week, but I suspect I will.  Thankfully, this is the last week of this intensity at work for a while.  I do have another busy week the second week in November, but it won’t be this intense.
