Wednesday’s Word of the Day – Change

Believe it or not, this is a new WWotD video!  Don’t expect a typical SBS video though, this one is different.  More subdued, more introspective, more erratic than normal, yet the message is important.

Day Eighty-Eight

For a day that started out in a less than desirable fashion, it has turned out okay.  I have hired a new guy at work who I had to do some training with today.  While he still has a ways to go on learning the job, he is showing some real good signs.  Once I get him up and going, some of my workload will lessen, which will allow me to spend a lot more time on my new duties at work.  Unfortunately, from mid-October to mid-November are busy times at work for me, so the work load will not likely decrease any for the next six weeks or so.  These two months are one of the big reasons for my job though, so I am not complaining.

Today was a great day on the diet.  My South Beach Diet meal journal for the day is as follows:

  • Breakfast – One serving of Uncle Sam cereal with a cup of ff milk, and a small bowl of fresh vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, and sliced celery).
  • Mid-morning snack – nothing.
  • Lunch – Two low-fat mozarella cheese sticks, four or five cups of salad with spinach, leaf lettuce, celery, cauliflower, tomatoes, cucumbers, and white meat turkey with oil and vinegar for dressing.
  • Mid-afternoon snack – One apple with two tablespoons of natural peanut butter.
  • Supper – A large chicken breast and some random dark meat, a large serving of butter beans, broccoli slaw, and four deviled egg halves.
  • Mid-evening snack – One cup of ff, plain yogurt with one and half tablespoons of flax seed, a little peach Jello powder, a little Splenda, and a little vanilla flavoring.

I have to do my push ups and leg lifts tomorrow, and I am going to do my best to get up and do a 2.5 mile walk too.

No Exercise Again . . .

I did not walk again this morning.  That means that I have not really followed my program all week, although I have gotten the push ups and leg lifts in.

WARNING – Whining alert ahead – - – - I haven’t really mentioned this before, mainly because I try to stay positive, but I have really been down lately.  Not about the diet at all, fortunately.  It is really a combination of things (fortunately, none have to do with my family either).  My job is changing quite a bit at work, which is going to be a really good thing, but I am having to learn a lot of things that aren’t my background or an area I learn easily.  Needless to say, that is taking a considerable amount of my time daily.  I am also in the middle of a volunteeer project that is almost done, but still needs some effort and I have a one week deadline on it.  In addition, I am trying to start several other things up right now.  Lastly, I have run a computer repair business on the side for several years and although I don’t promote it anymore, I still get some business.  Right now I have two computers in my living room and two others waiting to be worked on.  Only one of the four jobs will be easy and the others are ones that I actually dread.  Unfortunately, they have to get done soon too.  In short, I have been burning my candle at both ends for a little while now and it seems to be catching up to me.  – - – - End of whining.

Anyhow, I woke up on time this morning to exercise, and felt pretty good, but decided I should lay back down and get some more sleep so I could get through the day better.  I know I need the exercise, but I also need to be able to do what has to be done.  I haven’t been getting enough sleep lately and I can really tell it is taking a toll on me.  The good news is that I feel much better this morning.  I should be back on track tomorrow.
