It has been one long day, as most travel days are. Of course, there weren’t many good choices for food in the airports, but I came somewhat prepared and did okay.
I did exercise this morning. My wife and I walked four miles and then I jumped rope for five sets of 30 jumps each with a minute break of walking in between each set. I, of course, also walked in the airports today, but not as much as I expected.
I am not sure I will do a full exercise routine tomorrow, but I will at least jump rope and do push ups. I think I may use the elliptical machine in the fitness center at the hotel too. I haven’t used one before, so I am not sure what to expect.
Caution, venting ahead! I went to a grocery tonight to get some breakfast and snack foods for the week. I intended on buying some natural peanut butter to go with the apples I bought. Well, there were two containers I thought might work. One was Smart Balance Natural Peanut Butter and one was another brand I had never heard of, but it was organic. Both had sugar or sugar products in them! The Smart Balance Natural Peanut Butter had molasses and the other had ‘organic’ sugar. Grrr! I couldn’t believe they didn’t have a real natural peanut butter. I almost bought the Smart Balance Natural Peanut Butter because it only had one gram of sugar per two tablespoons and the oil they used in it was Flax Seed Oil, but I decided to be strong and just follow the program. I will probably eat some almonds with my apple tomorrow just to slow the digestion a little.
Like yesterday, I have an article today that deals with our memories. It appears that eating fatty fish lowers the risk of dimentia. That’s right, according to this article fatty fish is not just good for cholesterol and heart disease (see day 51), it is also good for our mental health. The study referenced in this article states that people who eat broiled or baked fatty fish lower their likelihood for memory loss, dimentia, and stroke. People who ate three or more servings a week lowered their risk by a whopping 26%! An interesting side note though, fried fish does not seem to have the same benefits. So, eat up on the fish folks!
I am not all that pleased with my results for the week. I have gained 0.5 pounds, 0.3% body fat, and my BMI has went up by 0.1! I guess I am paying for my cheat, overeating, and lack of exercise for two days; hopefully it will come right back off. My chest is also up 0.125″, my calves are up a 0.25″, my lower-arm is up by 0.75″, and my upper-arm is up 1.125″ ?? (this may be a misreading). Oddly enough, my neck is down 0.625″, and my waist is down 0.5″. My stomach and thighs stayed the same. Apparently my thigh measurement from last week was not a mistake, but my lower-arm measurement may have been.
