I have just finished the 5-week marathon of extra work at the office, and I am following it up with a week off of work. While I am not going anywhere on vacation, I am going to take at least one day trip to see some family in Nashville. I also plan on updating the blog more than I have during the past two weeks. Anyhow, here is my Hot 100 Report for the week:
- 180 push ups == Su: 65, Mo: 0, Tu: 80, We: 0, Th: 70, Fr: 0 {Total:215} *DONE*
- 180 squats == Su: 0, Mo: 75, Tu: 0, We: 70, Th: 0, Fr: 65 {Total:210} *DONE*
- 6 full sets of one minute planks (front and sides) == Su: 2, Mo: 0, Tu: 2, We: 0, Th: 2, Fr: 0 {Total:6} *DONE*
- 210 toe raises == Su: 0, Mo: 70, Tu: 10, We: 90, Th: 50, Fr: 50 {Total:270} *DONE*
- 60 chair dips == Su: 0, Mo: 0, Tu: 30, We: 0, Th: 0, Fr: 30 {Total:60} *DONE*
- 6/7 days of at least 6 on the scale of 1-10, and 2/7 at least 7 on the scale of 1-10 == Su: 7/10, Mo: 6/10, Tu: 6/10, We: 5/10, Th: 6/10, Fr: 5/10, Sa: 5/10
The goals for the upcoming week are remaining the same except I am removing the eating goal for the week. It isn’t that I am not going to pay attention to eating – oh, I am, but I am not going to fool myself thinking it will be a great week of eating when I know it won’t. It will, however, be average.
Be sure you head over to both Leah‘s, Pippa‘s, and Jody‘s blogs.

WOW – this week has flown by! It has been quite busy, but thankfully that also means it has been quite productive. I have been doing good on all the goals except eating. It hasn’t been bad (6/10 most days), but the goal was 7/10 for at least four days. I am not going to hit that. Exercise has been good though. That is a plus, right?

This week I am going to do something a little different. The goals will remain just about the same, but I am going to focus on planks, dips, and push ups on opposite days from squats and toe raises. So here are the updated goals:
- 180 push ups
- 180 squats
- 6 full sets of one minute planks (front and sides)
- 210 toe raises
- 60 chair dips
- 6/7 days of at least 6 on the scale of 1-10, and 4/7 at least 7 on the scale of 1-10
Be sure you head over to both Leah‘s and Pippa‘s blogs — they are both really rocking it this week! Also, don’t forget Jody too. She isn’t officially updating on her blog, but she is participating. While she is the perpetual cheerleader in the comments, her Saturday posts are sure to lighten your day.

Isn’t it amazing how when we need the most strength, it is there? Yesterday and today have been some of the most mentally taxing days I have had in some time. Even so, there hasn’t been a question in my mind on whether I was going to get some exercise in first thing in the morning. Eating has not been a real problem either. Don’t get me wrong, food is still tempting me, but I have actually heard my stomach growl and I didn’t run to find something to eat.
When I was younger I always loved this time of year. I love the smell of fall, especially burning leaves or freshly cut wood. I am sure there are some of you city slickers that have never had the pleasure of either of those treasures, and I have to say that you are really missing out. As I have grown older I haven’t appreciate the fall as much. Unfortunately, it is a warning sign of the winter to come, which I do not look forward to at all. Oddly enough, I used to love winter too, but that has changed with age.
While fall is a time for the earth to begin resting, that isn’t true for everything. Today I headed out to my garden as soon as I got home from work, and I was pleasantly surprised to find exactly what I was hoping for — the first blade of a garlic plant breaking through the soil. I’ll put a picture on here shortly. For some reason I love this about garlic. It grows at the time when everything else is beginning to die down. Garlic is tough and while it doesn’t grown during the winter, it is tough enough to hang in there until spring, at which time the early roots it set will come in early and propel it to maturity.

For the first time in a long time I can say I have had a truly successful week. It wasn’t without a mis-step or two, but all-in-all it was a great week. I exercised 5/7 days AND my eating was better than it has been in a while. Even so, I can do better, which is exactly what I plan to do this week. My goals for the upcoming week are as follows:
- 150 push ups
- 150 squats
- 6 full sets of one minute planks (front and sides)
- 150 toe raises
- 45 dips using the arms on a chair
- 6/7 days of at least 6 on the scale of 1-10
Remember, I re-calibrated the scale, so a 5 of 10 is what I would call a “normal” day.
Pippa and I are continuing our daily accountability. I can’t tell you how much this has helped. I have always had, and have appreciated the accountability I have found through my friends on this blog, but there is something about personalizing this with another individual that really changes it. If you are struggling with this right now, perhaps you should look for an accountability partner.
Don’t forget to check out both Leah‘s and Pippa‘s blog. They are the only two hotties participating this year, but that is okay, we are going to make the end of this year awesome!
